Where should a basement dehumidifier sit?
Near the moisture source or the center of the space, with the clearance the manufacturer specifies on all sides for intake and discharge. Do not push it against a wall or box it in behind storage, and keep it off carpet that blocks the underside.
Do I need to close basement windows and doors?
Yes. Dehumidifying a space that is open to outdoor air in humid weather means the unit is trying to dry the outdoors. Close windows and exterior doors, and keep the basement door to conditioned space closed if you want to hold a separate setpoint.
Is continuous drainage worth setting up?
